Absentee Bid


We are very sorry that you could not make it to the auction. However by filling out the form below completely we will be able to bid on your behalf. Once you have filled out the form please make sure to click on the submit button at the bottom.

  1. All absentee bids must be received at the White Star Auction offices no later than Friday (the day before the auction) at 6:00 PM.

  2. Bidders attending the auction in person will start the bidding, then we will have your representative bid on your behalf up to your maximum amount. Your representative will attempt to purchase for you at the lowest possible price, just as if you were here bidding yourself. This is not a perfect system, but it is a perfectly honest system.

  3. Successful absentee bidders will be called the day of the auction and your credit card will be charged for a minimum of 25% of the purchase price. Final payment is required no later than 11am on the Saturday after the auction. Unsuccessful bidders will not be notified.

  4. A buyer’s premium of 15% plus 6% Michigan sales tax will be added to your winning bid to determine your final purchase price.

  5. Once a bid is placed, it can not be withdrawn or changed after 6:00 PM on Friday (the day before the auction).

  6. We are open for removal of purchases on the Monday immediately after the auction from 1pm to 6pm and the Saturday immediately after the auction from 9m to 11am. Other dates/times are by appointment only.

THE MAXIMUM BID YOU ENTER BELOW DOES NOT INCLUDE THE BUYER PREMIUM OR THE SALE TAX. For example, if you leave a maximum bid of $1000.00 and the items actually sells for $900.00, you will pay $900.00 plus the buyer premium of $135.00 plus sales tax of $62.10 for a total purchase price of $1097.10.

Since the auction company does not inspect or own any of the items in the auction, we STRONGLY RECOMMEND that all buyers personally inspect items prior to bidding on them. Failure to inspect prior to bidding is at the buyer’s sole risk. We strongly encourage buyers to attend the auction in person so you can do an inspection and you will also have the opportunity to bid on every item at the auction, including the many items consigned Friday night and auction morning which are not available to absentee or on-line bidders. You will also pay a lower buyer’s premium if you attend the auction in person.

I agree to this legally binding contract by placing my bids and agree to pay the bid amount plus the 15% buyer’s premium plus 6% Michigan sales tax. I understand that my bids are irrevocable after the 6:00 pm Friday deadline. I understand that all items are sold in as-is, where-is condition with all faults and that items may not run, may have parts missing, or may be damaged. All sales are final and there are no refunds for any reason.

I understand that buyers attending the live auction in person may bid in amounts that result in the on-site bidder making a bid amount the same as my maximum absentee bid and I will not be the winning bidder in that situation. The decision of the auctioneer in all disputes or issues will be final.
